When you think of team-building exercises, you probably think of trust falls and stuff like that. Here at ZocDoc, we think of something else – having fun. Like, actual fun. Fun that you want to have. That’s why you might have seen our marketing team in the audience on the Colbert Report this last week! Bernd, one of our marketing gurus, gave us the details…

So who attended? It was the whole marketing team.

Was it hard to score tickets? Not too hard. The trick to it is following ‘@DailyTix,’ this Twitter feed. It lets you know when you can make reservations on the show’s site. Other than that, it’s just a lot of luck and patience.

What was the scene like when you got to the Midtown studio? It was bizarre. There were a couple lines of people and some were squeezed into a small area... The whole thing felt like a line for a concert – some people were really camped out, with food and everything!

Wild. Was security tight? Very. The show is vigilant about scalpers – we were ID’d at the entrance to the line, checked off a list, waited an hour, then finally got our physical tickets – and were ID’d again! Plus, we had to go through a metal detector to get to the studio. One of us had to give up our pepper spray. Not saying who…

Hey, it’s New York. What happened next? So then we got seated in the studio itself – it’s really small! Only about 120 people. And then they had a couple interns and a stand-up comic hype up the crowd. They want you really psyched-up and screaming when Colbert comes on stage. Screaming is key to the Colbert experience.

Finally, before the taping, Stephen himself came out to chat with the crowd, and he’s just really likable and friendly. He answered our questions out-of-character. For some reason, a lot of them were about Dungeons & Dragons. He seemed like he was kind of a nerd in high-school.

And the actual show? Of course, it was fantastic. He’s just a very charismatic, very funny guy. The crowd was going nuts! Especially when he made fun of Canada. Afterwards, we headed over to 9th Ave for dinner and drinks.

So you pretty much just hung out with your coworkers and had a blast? Pretty much!
